Having taken up his position as Mayor of Andratx in June, Jaume Porsell has said he will make it his priority to get the Mallorca Regional Government’s approval of Andratx’s pending subsidiary town planning regulations by 31 December 2015. He also wishes to recruit an environmental consultant, believing it to be a department that must be well taken care of.
Lorenzo Vila, Director of high-end Mallorca villa developers, Vila Brothers, says, “We’ve been waiting for a rubber stamp on the subsidiary town planning regulations for quite some time, and we’re very pleased to hear that the newly-elected Mayor has this as a main concern. Citizens of Andratx will then be completely clear on what can and cannot be legally done on the land that they own. Whilst some of the new regulations may be more restrictive and come as a disappointment to would-be developers, the general feeling is positive, paving a clear path for future confusion-free legal construction.”
The subsidiary town planning regulations are a more detailed breakdown of the PGOU which is the broad general land-use plan for the Island.
PP (Partido Popular) candidate Jaume Porsell is set to cede the position of Mayor to his liberal counterpart Katia Rouarch from PI (Proposta per les Illes – Proposal for the Islands) in two years time.
